The Taiwanese industry portal Digitimes reports that the iPad 2, the sequel to the highly successful Apple iPad, in three different versions to come on the market.
These three versions are only W-LAN, WLAN with UMTS and W-Lan to be with CDMA. The first two were already in the first iPad, CDMA would happen again - as the U.S. network operator Verizon Wireless uses the CDMA network. CDMA is a wireless standard that is similar to UMTS and especially in Asia and is very common for Apple home, USA. Digitimes further writes, that is to be the separation of the three versions of 3:4:3 and justified this by saying that 60-65 percent of sales iPads with UMTS interface are sold, although these variants are more expensive.
The production will begin in January 2011 and 500,000 units are manufactured and sold in March / April,. The first
